Our Mission:

Changing the lives of children in the welfare system through meditation, mindfulness, and movement.

About us

Breathe New Life is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving foster youth aging out of care. Our Mission is to use mindfulness, meditation, and movement as a tool for children in the welfare system to cope with stress, manage emotions, and learn self-regulation by calming the nervous system. Breathe New Life empowers children to harness choice and find possibility, ultimately improving their lives and reducing the risk of mental health issues.

Children in the welfare system experience mental illness at significantly higher rates than the average child. While effective health care and meaningful interventions may be difficult to navigate, Breathe New Life is approaching this differently. By providing direct support and meeting children where they are, we are teaching children to be present, process strong emotions, and control their thought patterns, increasing opportunities to thrive.

Meet Katy

Katy is a massage therapist and yoga teacher with a profound dedication to healing and well-being. With 17 years of experience in massage therapy and 11 years in yoga, driven by her commitment to a holistic well-being, she discovered the transformative power of mindfulness and meditation.

Her journey reflects not only a commitment to personal growth but also a desire to find alternative ways to assist clients and students in their healing journey. As her passion for meditation deepened, Katy continued to expand her knowledge and skills. This journey not only enhanced her understanding of yoga and mindfulness but also provided profound insights into her authentic self and her life’s purpose.

In addition to her impactful work as a massage therapist and yoga teacher, Katy has extended her passion for healing and well-being to create positive change in lives of children in foster care. Recognizing the unique challenges and mental health needs of these young kids in our community, Katy took a bold step and founded a nonprofit organization dedicated to support them through meditation, mindfulness and movement. Her nonprofit initiative reflects a deep commitment to addressing the mental health disparities that children in foster care often face. By introducing mindfulness and meditation practices, Katy seeks to provide these children with tools for self-awareness, emotional regulation and resilience. Her belief in the transformative power of mindfulness aligns with a holistic approach to well-being, acknowledging the importance of both mind and body.

Katy is dedicated to create a positive impact on society one mindful breath at a time.
